In 1865 Chauncey A Freese returned home from fighting in the Great Rebellion, known now as the Civil War. His experience made it clear to him that there was a great need for prosthetics. With his wife Eliza Keene Freese, and later his two sons, Julian and Chauncey, he set about providing the best prosthetic devices he could make. Only 11 years later, in the first official World's Fair held in the US, the Great Exhibition 1876, he won first place in the category, Artificial Limbs.
We proudly continue this tradition of excellence today by striving to provide the very best prosthetic care available in the country today. Our very high patient satisfaction ranking, among the top 2 % in the country, is one of the indicators that we are succeeding in our goal.
Howard Tyo, Paula's dad, became an above knee amputee in 1945, several years before she was born. Conrad & Freese became Freese & Tyo in 1951, the year Paula was born. In 1978, Ron Englander,CP, Paula's husband, then a certified prosthetist, bought Freese and Tyo along with 3 others at the time, and Ortopedic Technologies Inc was born. A series of corporate reiterations followed, and in 1999 Innovative Prosthetic & Orthotic Professionals, Inc came into being.
